This is an example of what is referred to as the Golden Age of TV - the 50s.. Prominent actors in plays written by famous or soon to be famous playwrights. programs may be in B&W, but the drama or comedy was first rate. Weekly hour or hour and a half long presentations were a staple for several years.

At 19mins in he's obviously poking re why her Hollywood bid failed. 1. Her husband Denis Hamilton beat up a photographer who pushed them into a pool at their first Hollywood party, for a silly publicity stunt. 2. She was dropped by RKO under their morality clause, for having a very open & very indiscreet affair with Rod Steiger, that started on set. Denis, her 1st husband, spent all her money & she went bankrupt not long after returning to the UK.

What a treasure trove of early New York-Hollywood movie history Gloria Swanson provides...while making it perfectly clear that she approached Kennedy for business backing but had a tough time eluding his personal advances. What a book.

A good story about her and Hitchcock on Lifeboat. She preferred to go commando at all times, even though this part required a lot of going up and down ladders. When the crew raised complaints to the director, AH said he wasn't sure whether to refer the question to the costume department, makeup, or hairdressing.

I had the great fortune to have heard Nancy live when I worked at Ted Hook's OnStage (NYC), 1980-81. She blew everyone away, leaving the audience moved and aware of the unique gift they had received. I rediscovered her years later through a great friend - a singer herself - a woman who also worked at OnStage (where we met and became great lifelong friends). I listen to Nancy very often, my favorite song being "We Can Be Kind". I found out she passed away via a CD cover I found in a record/book shop in Munich years later, during my years in Germany. She left us all so very blessed.

Love your honesty and humility. This is a decent interview, in spite of the fact that affable Skip E. was a little over his head in that department. Skip did the best he could and really loved the entertainment industry. Lowe was very REAL. When he interviewed folks, you had to go in, with that in mind. God bless Mr. Sands and his talent and decentcy as a human being. To bad he ran into the Sinatra clan and Frank's irrational 'temper'. I only hope before Frank left us, that he realized that he could and should have handled Tommy in a much different way.
